Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan gave updates regarding the continued infrastructure projects spearheaded by preceding mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso’s term in her latest capital report on Feb. 3, broadcasted live in Batang Maynila Media’s YouTube channel.
Bagong Ospital ng Maynila
Speaking in the Capital Report on Friday, Lacuna noted that the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila is finally open to accept emergency cases after the operations halted due to renovations.
Upon inspection, the mayor also notes several points for improvement regarding service and infrastructure.
“Nag-ocular po tayo at nakita po natin na may mga ibang lugar pa po tayo na kailangan ayusin para mas convenient sa atin pong mga kababayan na may sakit at sa kanilang mga mahal sa buhay na nagbabantay sa kanila,” she emphasizes.
In-city vertical housing progress
Mayor Lacuna also gave updates on the city’s vertical housing projects, which were launched by her predecessor, Isko Moreno.
The first project, the Pedro Gil Residences in San Andres, is said to include almost 400 residential units, with a floor area of 40 square meters per unit, once completed.
“Nasa 37.73 [percent] na po ang natapos sa pagpapagawa ng vertical housing na ito,” Lacuna said.
The mayor noted that the project will have around 300 parking spaces, a swimming pool, a fitness center, a function room, an activity lawn, and a super health center.
The super health centers included in the vertical housing project’s construction offer complete basic laboratory tests, a built-in portable X-ray, an electrocardiogram (ECG) machine, and many more.
The project is expected to be completed in the third to fourth quarter of next year, and will be offered to informal settlers and their families in the area.
Lacuna noted that the second project, the San Lazaro Residences in Sta. Cruz, is already 32.70% complete as of Nov. 4 last year.
Relatively larger than Pedro Gil Residences, San Lazaro Residences has a total of 430 residential units and almost 220 parking spaces.
Its amenities also include swimming pool, function room, activity lawn, Manila Public Health (MPH) Laboratory and health center.
For the San Lazaro Residences, the LGU will be prioritizing employees from the Manila Health Department with a salary grade of below 18 or those earning below P46,725.
Finally, San Sebastian Residences, located across San Sebastian Church, Quiapo, is one third complete as of November last year.
It is the smallest among the residential houses discussed in Lacuna’s report, with 247 units. Each unit is 40 square meters big with two bedrooms, a toilet and bath, a kitchen and a living room.
The amenities of the 20-story building include a 139-slot parking space, a swimming pool, a function room, a fitness center, a health center and a police station.
As of November last year, the project is around 33 percent complete, and it is expected to be ready for occupancy next year.
It is Manila’s sixth housing project after Tondominium 1 and 2, Binondominium, Basecommunity, San Lazaro Residences, and Pedro Gil Residences.
“Yon naman pong mga under engineering department. Again, salary grade 18 below and yung mga kababayan natin sa vicinity ng San Sebastian. Quiapo area ito eh. So doon po sa mga low-income families within the San Sebastian area, pwede po kayo makipag-ugnayan sa Manila Urban Settlements Office kung kayo po ay interesado sa atin pong in-city vertical houses,” said Lacuna describing who are eligible to avail units in the said residential tower.
San Sebastian Residences will benefit over 300 indigent families in Manila. Paulina Icban, Diane Sarmiento, Ayanna Zoleta
